Simkin de Pio (b. 1976, Philippines), a Filipino painter, is the eldest son of renowned Filipino realist painter Gig de Pio and Fe Esterlina.
In 1994, de Pio graduated from the Ateneo, and in 1998 entered the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, Diliman, where he studied under Roberto Feleo, Roberto Chabet, Ruben David Defeo, Gerry Tan, Rey Concepcion, and Benjie Cabangis. While in college, he earned awards at Shell National Student’s Art Competition and elected in the Student Counci.
After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting, de Pio worked as a graphic artist and illustrator at the UP NISMED, then towards family life went on to work at AMA Computer University. Later he taught at the De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde School of Design and the Arts and at Xavier School San Juan to teach Art and design graphics and IT work for the entire school system.
He has been painting full time since 2013 after closing shop on the artist run gallery space that he started together with friends in 2010.
